Johnson Designated Georgia Farm Bureau 1st Vice President Re-elected GFB South Georgia VP

JOHNSON DESIGNATED GEORGIA FARM BUREAU 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

RE-ELECTED GFB SOUTH GEORGIA VP

 

   MACON, Ga. – Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) members in the organization’s South Region re-elected Daniel L. Johnson of Pierce County to a second, three-year term representing their 53-county region as South Georgia vice presidenton the GFB Board of Directors. All GFB voting delegates designated Johnson to serve as GFB 1st vice president from among the organization’s three regional vice presidents.The GFB first vice president would be tapped to lead the organization shouldthe president be unable to.The election was held Dec. 10, during the 82nd Annual Georgia Farm Bureau Convention on Jekyll Island. 

   The GFB South Georgia Region is comprised of 53 counties in the lower third of the state running from the Alabama state line to the Georgia coast. The northern line of the region, running from west to east, includes Quitman, Randolph, Terrell, Lee, Crisp, Wilcox, Telfair, Wheeler, Montgomery, Toombs, Tattnall, Evans, Bryan and Chatham counties.        

   Johnson grows tobacco, cotton and peanuts. Johnson served on the GFB Board of Directors representing the organization’s 10th District from 2006 until 2016 when he was first elected GFB South Georgia vice president. He is  vice president of the Pierce County Farm Bureau and previously served as PCFB president for 25 years.  He served on the Georgia Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee from 1988-1989 and served as committee vice chairman in 1989. He has also served on the GFB Cotton and Tobacco Advisory Committees.

    In addition to his Farm Bureau leadership, Johnson serves as chairman of the Georgia Tobacco Commission and is a director of the Georgia Tobacco Growers Association. He is a member of the Georgia Young Farmers Association for which he previously served as treasurer, vice president and president. He is a former director of the Coastal Pines Technical College and Southern Pullers, a truck and tractor pulling association.

   Johnson has twice been named the Sunbelt Exposition Georgia Farmer of the Year. He and his wife, Patricia, have four children - Lindsey, LeeAnn, Dan and Dawson - and two grandchildren, Blythe and Raylon.

dedicated to serving as the voice of Georgia farmers and rural Georgia.
