Bringing the Tradition Home
Posted on April 9, 2024 11:06 AM
The 88th Masters Tournament begins this week, and if you weren’t one of the chosen few who were able to secure tickets for the event, don’t worry because we’re bringing a taste of the Masters to you. It’s a tradition unlike any other with some local Georgia flavors. We’ve picked a few that you can make at home with the help of some of our Certified Farm Markets.
Pimento Cheese Sandwiches
You can find pimento cheese from Thomasville’s own Sweet Grass Dairy. They put a twist on this creamy, comfort food featuring their very own Thomasville Tomme cheese. It’s a southern classic with a slightly spicy, smokey flavor and a creamy, spreadable texture perfect for a Masters inspired Pimento Cheese Sandwich.
Egg Salad Sandwiches
This savory favorite combines the flavors of fresh farm eggs, mayonnaise and a touch of thyme. Several of our Certified Farm Markets offer fresh farm eggs, like these ones from Nu Sunrise Farms in Griffin, Georgia.
Barbeque Sandwiches
If you want to know your farmer, and know your food check out Thompson Farms in Dixie, Georgia. They’re the farmer, butcher, processor and retailer all rolled into one family business. They offer Pork Butts or, to save some time, you can purchase a package of their Pulled Pork mixed with BBQ sauce.
Peach Ice Cream Sandwiches
This crowd favorite marries the flavors of sweet Georgia Peach ice cream sandwiched between two, soft, sugar cookies. You can make your own peach ice cream with this recipe, or purchase some already churned from Dickey Farms in Musella, Georgia. To save some time, pick up some sugar cookies at your local grocery store’s bakery. Take a scoop of peach ice cream, squish it between two cookies and enjoy.
Lemonade
So you didn’t get tickets to the tournament or practice rounds this year, let’s turn lemons into lemonade. This sweet, yet tart drink is the perfect compliment to any of the recipes above. Here’s a quick recipe to get you started.
