Six Georgia conservation districts providing feral swine services

Six Georgia conservation districts covering 34 counties are participating in the Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) Feral Swine District initiative.
Landowners in each of these districts are invited to utilize feral swine control services, which include funding for acquisition of swine control equipment and contracting with hog control custodians who perform eradication services within the districts.
GACD districts participating are: Alapaha (Berrien, Clinch, Cook Echols, Lanier and Lowndes counties); Blue Ridge Mountain (Fannin, Rabun, Towns and Union counties); Brier Creek (Burke, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins and Richmond counties); Broad River (Banks, Franklin, Hart, Madison, Elbert, Oglethorpe and Wilkes counties); Ogeechee River (Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Evans, Screven and Tattnall counties); and Piedmont (Baldwin, Greene, Morgan, Putnam and Taliaferro counties).
According to the GACD, the Feral Swine District Initiative has made a tremendous difference in reducing feral swine damage. Farmers who have been forced to make a decision not to plant peanuts, corn, or soybeans in some of their best soils due to feral swine damage are now considering planting these crops.
