Copycat Fair Corn Dogs

Let's be honest we're all disappointed that we won't be able to eat our way around the Georgia National Fair this year, but with this copycat recipe you may be able to imagine it. So sit back, close your eyes and dream of the sights and smells that we look forward to each October. 

Ingredients:

• 1 quart canola oil
• 8 all-beef franks, or hotdog of choice
• 8 8-inch skewers
• 1 cup plain yellow cornmeal
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
• 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1 1/2 cups whole buttermilk
• 1 large egg
