Meet Bryce Roland, State FFA President

What do you hope to achieve as a state officer?

By Bryce Roland, State FFA President

The Georgia FFA Association has given me so much and if I can give back just a fraction of what it has done for me—then I would be happy. My personal goal this year is to not make some enormous impact on Georgia FFA because I believe that it is the small things that make the biggest difference.

I remember my first state convention. I was in the 8th grade and Mr. Andy Paul was the National FFA President [now currently the GA FFA Leadership Program Specialist] and he was attending convention that year. I can recall sitting at my seat and looking behind me to see the Georgia Farm Monitor interviewing Mr. Paul. I built up the courage to go up to him after the interview and shake his hand and introduce myself. He took a few minutes of his time to talk with me about FFA and how my experience at state convention was going. While this may not seem like a big deal, I was absolutely star struck and I can honestly say that that small innocent conversation is among the experiences that really helped launch my FFA career.

The last paragraph of the FFA creed reads, “I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.” That is my overall goal this year. To “exert an influence.” Whether it be through one of the Leadership Conferences that Georgia FFA puts on throughout the year, at State convention in Macon, or just a one on one conversation with a member during a school visit. I hope to influence members of the Georgia FFA Association in a positive manner.

As a State Officer I have been given the opportunity to come into contact with thousands of FFA members across not only the state of Georgia but throughout the Nation. And if I am successful in making a difference in just one of those students lives…then I will be satisfied.
