MACON, Ga. - Laurens County Farm Bureau (LCFB) member Elaine Avery is chairing the 2014 Georgia Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee as a representative of the organization’s 6th District. She is serving a one-year term on the Georgia Farm Bureau Board of Directors to represent the committee.
As a member of this committee, Avery will participate in activities promoting Georgia agriculture and healthy nutrition choices.
Avery is an active member of the LCFB and serves as chairman of the LCFB Women’s Committee.
Avery graduated from Crandall Junior College with associate degrees in business and marketing. She and her husband, Hugh, raise blueberries and vegetables on their farm. The Averys attend New Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin.
Founded in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau is the largest general farm organization in the state. Its volunteer members actively participate in local, district and state activities that promote agriculture awareness to their non-farming neighbors. GFB also has 20 commodity advisory committees that give the organization input on issues pertinent to the major commodities grown in Georgia.
