VIDALIA ONION RINGS WITH SPICY KETCHUP

 

 

 

2 large Vidalia onions, cut into 1/8 inch slices

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon minced garlic

3 tablespoons hot sauce

2 cups flour

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon oregano

Oil for frying

 

SPICY KETCHUP

 

1 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon ground mustard

1 tablespoon Sriracha hot chili sauce*

 

 

Combine spicy ketchup ingredients and refrigerate until ready to use.

 

Combine onion rings, buttermilk, garlic and hot sauce in a large bowl and marinate for 1 hour.  Remove onions from buttermilk mixture .

 

Combine flour, garlic and oregano, then coat rings with flour mixture.

 

Fry in hot oil until golden brown. 

 

Serve with spicy ketchup.

 

 

*Srirachi sauce can be found in the Asian section of the grocery store
