2014 Farm Bill Information Meeting
Georgia Farm Bureau held a 2014 Farm Bill information meeting on Monday, March 24, 2014. On hand were representatives of University of Georgia Extension to explain to attendees how the Farm Bill will affect various sectors of Georgia agriculture. Each of their presentations are available for viewing below.
Dr. Nathan Smith, UGA Extension Economist, explains how several Georgia commodities are affected by changes made in the 2014 Farm Bill Commodities Title. He discusses base & yield updates, generic base for cotton, Price Loss Coverage (PLC) and Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC).
Dr. Don Shurley, UGA Extension Cotton Economist, explains what the 2014 Farm Bill means for cotton growers. He discusses Cotton Transition Assistance, marketing loans, the Stacked Income Protection Plan (STAX) and Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO).
Dr. Curt Lacy, UGA Extension Livestock Economist, looks at how livestock producers are affected by the 2014 Farm Bill. He gives details on Livestock Forage Disaster Plan (LFP), Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP), program eligibility determinations, etc.
Dr. Tommie Shepherd, UGA Agribusiness Economist, discusses what the 2014 Farm Bill means for Georgia dairymen. He discusses programs that were discontinued in this Farm Bill, those that were renewed, and two new programs - Dairy Producer Margin Protection and the Dairy Product Donation Program.
Amanda Smith, UGA Extension, explains how conservation programs are affected by the 2014 Farm Bill.
