The Young Farmer Leadership Conference is held every summer at Jekyll Island, Georgia. This family-friendly event is designed to present educational, networking and social opportunities to our younger members, as well as to help build a new foundation of ag leaders for our organization.

Every year, the GFB Young Farmer Committee sponsors three competitive events. Young farmers can compete in the Achievement Award competition, the Excellence in Agriculture competition, and the Young Farmer Discussion Meet. State winners in these contests compete against their peers from other states in the American Farm Bureau national competitions.
All qualified applications in the Achievement Award and Excellence in Agriculture Award are judged in the district competition. Then district winners and the three finalists and the State Winner are announced at the Young Farmer Leadership Conference.
All four rounds of the Young Farmer Discussion Meet are held at the Young Farmer Leadership Conference, including the Final 4. This is a process that the Young Farmer Committee feels will continue to enhance the competition and better prepare contestants for the national competition.
The state winner in all three of these competitive events are announced at the Young Farmer Leadership Conference. The winner of each competition will receive an expense paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention to compete for national honors.
